We are now part of Spalding, UK Baptist Church, Jim moved with his wife Ann to Spalding, Lincolnshire, UK in 2022 after spending all his life in Warwickshire, having been born in Coventry during second World War. Brought up in a Anglican Christian family, he lapsed in late teens, but rekindled his faith when he met and married Ann. They have been very active in all their Churches in Coventry and Warwickshire.
Our highlight was staying several times in Kaduna Nigeria between 2005 and 2010 working for Coventry diocese “Companionship Links” project mainly in St. Michael’s College – Kaduna, Nigeria

Ann taught practical art, with the challenge of very little material. Fortunately Bishop Colin Bennetts our home church St. Martin’s in the Fields, Finham gave us access to funds to help in our ministry. So art materials was partially resolved.
Jim, was there to teach computing, but had to first install and network some 15 PC’s in 2005. This also became more difficult because electricity was intermittent, so we had to purchase and install a generator and wire to admin office and computer laboratory.

We also tried to help primary schools in two ways providing some 12,000 books which were donated by parishioners in Coventry diocese to help children with reading. Also to train staff with workshops and also arranging for two teachers Mrs Agnes Awogbami and Mrs Rahila Malam to stay with us in Warwickshire and help teach in several schools in Coventry diocese.

We also through encouraging churches in Coventry diocese to raise funds to install 66 fresh water wells and bore holes in rural Kaduna state. These wells located where the Kaduna diocese had planted a church in a village in a rural area. The well was hand dug and lined with concrete rings, and where dug in May at the end of the dry season when the water table at its lowest. This could be up to 18 metres deep.
During early 2024 Spalding Baptist Church ran a course Fruitfulness on the Frontline by LICC. This encourages those in the whole church to look at possibilities to make a difference for Christ amongst the people you naturally meet in the places you find yourself day by day.
Jim decided to tackle it by targeting those lapsed Christians and those seeking faith by creating a crossword for every chapter in the bible. He had previous attempted this back in 2003 but the software was not brilliant. So this website Jim created in 2024 and has completed all chapters in the New Testament and is working through the Old Testament at about 7 crosswords per week.
It is encouraging that the website attracts many visitors currently in 116 countries.
(see footer to see how many visitors and pages viewed since May’24 )
Jim has received messages from schools and churches in Southern India and Baptist churches in USA. Also trying to encourage prison chaplains in UK and USA to encourage inmates to try crosswords, this follows partners of prisoners sending messages to say useful they were. A Women’s prison in Western Australia just north of Perth have started using the crosswords.
